Ellen Street Dental is conveniently located on the southern fringe of Wollongong CBD. There is parking at the back of the practice, as well as (free) 2 hour parking on the street. Our aim is to provide a high quality and professional service for consulting dentists, while providing a warm and welcoming environment for each of their patients. The practice is modern, spacious and custom fitted to meet each practitioner's needs in providing services to their patients. Our dental hygientist, oral health therapist, clinical and administrative team are experienced in providing support and services to our consulting dentists and their patients.
Many of our staff and practictioners have kids of their own, and are all experienced with treating and looking after kids of all ages.

Dr Stephen
McCrea BdsSydney University
Steve was born and raised in Wollongong and completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Sydney University in 1988. He worked both locally here in Wollongong and in Newcastle before consulting at this practice. Over the years, the practice has moved from Market Street, then to Kembla Street in 1996 and finally here to Ellen Street in March 2007.
Within Steve's practice, he is committed to continuing education, keeping up with advances in dentistry and has a keen interest in technology. He lives locally and has two kidults still living at home. Steve has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry involving complex composite work, crowns, restorations and the restorative component of dental implants. He also performs a lot of root canal treatment, but has a special interest in sleep medicine. Steve attends colaborative group meetings with the sleep, ear nose and throat, respiratory specialists, orthodonists and other dentists at the local sleep clinic to help solve complex cases. Within Steve's practice, he assesses and fits patients with anti-snoring oral devices worn at night. Away from work, Steve is a keen golfer and is into yoga. Although he loves beach fishing, sadly never catches anything. Steve consults here on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. ABN 15 838 381 698

Louise graduated from Sydney University in 1993 with 1st Class Honors. She worked at Westmead Hospital and in private practice in Sydney before moving to Wollongong in 1997 to consult from this practice. Louise lives locally and has two high school aged children. Louise consults here on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Within Louise's practice, she treats patients of all ages. She gets satisfaction from being able to improve her patients’ smiles through cosmetic, restorative and preventative treatment. Louise performs general restorative dentistry, teeth whitening, crown and bridgework, the restorative component of dental implants, root canal therapy and general preventative care and education. Louise also treats patients with clear aligners to straighten teeth withour braces.
Louise enjoys participating in continuing education so she can offer patients contemporary, proven treatment options. Patients are very comfortable with Louise and her soft and gentle approach. In her spare time, Louise is a keen long distance runner. Her family pet Douglas is in retirement now, so Trevor, her other Labradoodle, comes to the practice with her each Friday as our therapy dog. Dr Sharmila

Sharmila graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1994 and worked in South Africa for 9 years before moving to Australia with her husband and son. Sharmila brings warmth and calm to this practice when she is consulting here and looks after patients of all ages. Sharmila has a great skill in endodontics (root canal treatment) and often undertakes really complex and extensive restorative cases where multiple teeth are restored to improve function and aesthetics.
Generated by a real talent in oral surgery, Sharmila has undertaken further training at Sydney University in oral surgery techniques, and most recently, completed an advanced oral surgery program at Melbourne Dental School, so many patients who would have normally had to see a specialist, can be treated here. In 2016, Sharmila became a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, which required extensive study and examination. Sharmila is giving back to future dentists by supervising University of Sydney 3rd year dental students in their clinics. Sharmila consults here from Monday to Thursday.

Charlotte was proudly born and raised in Wollongong and Steve McCrea was her childhood dentist. She came to this practice for work experience in Year 12.
Charlotte graduated from Charles Sturt University in Orange in 2014. During this time she was awarded the year one prize for excellence in clinical dentistry, a Deans award, the award for excellence in Endodontics by Australian Society of Endodontology and the Gunz dental award for Endodontics.
Since this time she has worked for Charles Sturt University at the Orange and Bathurst campuses in their private dental clinic and has been involved in the teaching of all student year groups. As part of her teaching she has travelled with the students to the remote town of Brewarrina to provide free dental services to the local community. Charlotte sat the primary examination for the Royal Australasian college of dental surgeons in 2017, receiving commendations in all subjects.
Within her practice, Charlotte's particular areas of interest are comprehensive cosmetic restorative makeovers, Invisalign, treating children of all ages and Endodontics. She prides herself on a gentle and friendly approach to dental care ensuring that all patients are comfortable and share her preventive attitude.

Stephanie was born and raised in Wollongong before moving to Orange, NSW to complete her Bachelor of Dental Science at Charles Sturt University. During this time she was awarded two Executive Dean’s awards, was the Student Dental Association President. She travelled to Nepal as part of a Dental outreach program, offering free oral health care to vulnerable populations all whilst still graduating with distinction. Prior to this, Stephanie worked as a Registered Nurse in the Illawarra Region, bringing numerous years of experience in healthcare with her in to her dental practice.
Within her practice, Stephanie enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with particular interest in paediatric patients, preventative and restorative treatment and patient education. Her friendly and cheerful demeaner goes far in ensuring all patients have a high quality, positive and comfortable experience at the dentist. Using her skills and knowledge, a patient centred care approach to Dentistry is taken for every individual and their needs.
Stephanie is actively involved in the Australian Dental Association, currently sitting on NSW Branch Committees and attending continuing professional development to ensure the most up to date and patient focused care.
Outside of Dentistry you will find her down at the beach, in her garden or just hanging out with her Dog Saffy. Stephanie consults here from Tuesday to Friday. ABN 91 674 193 080

Tania Nichamin

Tania had worked with us as a chairside assistant for many years before completing her Bachelor of Oral Health degree at the University of Newcastle in 2008.
Tania has a great rapport with patients and is able to steer people in the right oral health direction through her excellent treatment in the chair and through education about home dental care. Tania has excellent clinical skills and treats patients of all ages. She also sees many patients with disabilities and has had real success in improving these patients' oral health. Tania has completed further professional development in the area of periodontal disease, and is saving teeth for patients which would otherwise been lost.
Away from work, Tania is a tallented country music song writer and recording artist and has recently released 3 new singles. She loves to have fun, dressing up, parties and spending time with her husband Doug and their three children.
Naomi Hawker

Naomi was born and raised in Wollongong and worked as a dental assistant for many years. During her years chair side, she was inspired to pursue a career as an Oral Health Therapist so relocated to Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga in 2019. Naomi has a special interest in treating periodontal disease and works with patients to save their teeth. This is acheived by in chair treatment and patient education on at home care in between appointments.
Away from work, Naomi enjoys keeping fit at the gym, hanging out at the beach and bushwalking.

Angela has worked for us for over 28 years, and has been managing our practice for the last 17 years.
She grew up in Newcastle and graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Angela has undertaken further education in Human Resource Management and workplace training and assessment. She has achieved two cycles of accreditation for our practice with QIP, looks after the HR needs of the practice as well as managing our business.
Away from work, Angela loves going on holidays, she has a keen interest in shoes and plays competitive tennis.
Our Therapy Dog

Douglas was our therapy dog who has now retired.
His brother Trevor comes in to work each Friday. He is a Labradoodle from Tamaruke, a breeder in Branxton in the Hunter Valley.
Trevor is a smart and loyal dog. He has lovely manners and socialises with patients in the waiting room and smooches up to people for pats and cuddles, helping reduce stress and anxiety.
Away from work, Trevor chews things up and makes a mess.
